Educational
Resources

Our Goalis to challenge students and support their growth to their full potential. As part of our visitor research, we are utilizing the Georgia Department of Education’s standards for social studies to ensure that interpretive projects meet the demands of students, educators, and parents. We understand that field trips offer deep cognitive learning beyond facts and concepts to include process skills and draw on other places of learning, such as museums. Similar to other museum education programs, we believe that learning on a field trip is a valuable supplement and addition to classroom instruction, and a way to prepare students for future learning.

Tours & Class Activities

Students are given the opportunity to handle historic objects from our collection in addition to touring our exhibitions. Tours are designed to match the state social studies requirements.

Educational Presentations

At the Jack Hadley Black History Museum, education is at the heart of what we do. Our engaging presentations bring history to life for students, teachers, and community groups of all ages. Each program is designed to share the powerful stories of African American history and culture—both locally and nationally—while inspiring dialogue, reflection, and learning.

Scavenger Hunts

Our scavenger hunts turn a museum visit into an interactive adventure. Designed for students, families, and groups, these activities guide participants through the exhibits with fun challenges and thought-provoking questions. As they search for clues and uncover hidden details, participants gain a deeper appreciation of African American history while staying actively engaged.
